Best Kindle Skins

Check out the wide range of Kindle 3 skins. The Amazon Kindle Store has hundreds to choose from.
What Is A Kindle Skin?
A Kindle skin is simply a thin layer of vinyl that you can add on to your Kindle reader for protection and styling.
When I bought my Kindle 3 I neglected to buy a cover. Partly this was forgetfulness but a big part of the decision was that I did not see the attraction of making my Kindle bulkier to carry around.
However this is not the case with the stylish Kindle 3 skins that are on sale these days. The market leader is the brand DecalGirl. But do not think that this means these designs are only for women. On the contrary, they are for those of us, male or female, who are concerned about style.
I find some of the artwork on these designs amazing. We all have our own particular tastes and there are bound to be some that we find more attractive than others.
Skins cost rond about $20 which is cheaper than most Kindle covers. The thing is, they do not offer quite the same level of protection. For example, your Kindle would have a muc better chance of surviving a drop in a full on leather case.
Kindle Skin Brands
These Kindle 3 skins are made from cast vinyl. This is then coated in a special kind of protective matte film. This helps to prevent fingerprints and also reduce the amount of light that is reflected. There are three brands of skins for you to choose from. These include DecalGirl, GelaSkins and Skinit. Each brand has their own distinctive designs.
DecalGirl
DecalGirl have about 100 different skins on sale in the Amazon Kindle Store that are suitable for the latest generation handsets. Their designs feature artwork from the likes of John E Shannon, Vlad Studio and Digital Blasphemy as well as original designs by DecalGirl as well.
At the moment, this is the brand that I like the best. I am particularly keen on the designs of John E Shannon that have fantasy influences and are dark and provocative.
Of course, not all their skins are like this. They have lots that use bright colors instead.
GelaSkins
This brand uses images from all over the world. The top quality graphics contain a variety of styles from cutting edge futuristic designs through to reproductive prints of fine arts.
Looking at their Japanese style skins, it is clear that they have used some of the artwork created by Katsushika Hokusai. These were orignially created about 200 years ago.
It is quite exciting to realize that we can combine our Kindle, an invention of the 21st century with attractive designs from the 1800s.
Skinit
The Skinit range of Kindle skins is the one that is least appealing to me. They include designs from teams in the NFL, the NBA, MLB, NCAAF as well as the movie Twilight. Primarily they are based around sporting teams in the States.
If you want to show your affiliation then this sort of cover may well be the best way to go. But as far as I am concerned, they are a little bit too garish for my tastes.
What I do like about this brand is that they are totally different from DecalGirl and Gelaskins.
